Birth Story

She is finally here, and on the day I said all along, my Grandma's 91st Bday.....

I started feeling cramps at 12.21am and got out of bed and internet surfed for awhile, as the pains remained constant I started to think maybe this was it, as I had never gone into labor before i was a bit unsure....

Jason then woke and asked why i was up, i said i couldn't sleep as Caleb was in out bed and on MY side (he always sleeps nearer to his dad).... so Jason put him back into his bed....

by this time the cramps weren't as strong or as frequent, so I got my heat pack and wnet back to bed..... it was about 1.40am

We were there for 5 minutes and my waters broke....EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!

Jason was wondering around saying what do you want me to do???? (I think he was panicing)

I remained calm, and tried to clean up what I could.... then I tried to call Carol, without luck, so I rang the hospital, and they said make your way in when your ready.... so after finally contacting Carol, & mum & dad..... we set off at 2.30am....

on arriving my contractions were 4minutes apart and getting stronger..... they hooked me up to the monitor and bub was doing well.....

BUT... within an hour contractions had gone to 10-15 minutes apart...... labor was stopping!!!!

Carol & I tried everything, we walked, we talked, we laughed we played cards.... we even slept!!!

at 11am I had to decide if I wanted to be induced or go rest up on the ward and wait and see what happened!!!

Lets just get it over with!!!

So they put the dripin with fluid for 1/2 hour and then started the drugs at 11.45am......

the pains started slow at first but then the midwife turned it up and with 5 minutes they were 4 minutes apart, and they hurt.

We ran the bath and I got in.... the first 2 contractions weren't too bad the next one really hurt.... and then on #4 I told carol I needed to push GET THE WIDWIFE....

I then got out of the bath and labored holding onto the end of the bed.... 2 contractions later and I was fully dilated and I felt the head crown....

I backed down onto the birth stool and the next contraction we had a head..... 1.27pm.....

I got to see all this with a mirror (which I hadn't done before)...it was awesome....

the next contraction I pulled my little bub up onto my chest.....

It was amazing.... fast, but amazing..... and my doctor arrived in time to deliver the placenta!!!

I would like to thank of course my husband... but also my Best Friend Carol..... who with only 1 hours sleep managed to be there for me every step of the way and took the most amazing photos of every moment..... thankyou soooooooo much!!!! You have given us the most amazing (and graphic) memories of the special moment...... you are AWESOME!!!!!!
